And the more Cabela’s uses this strategy, the more accurate and complete the profiling of their list is going to become. Of course, if these are just “standard” links, they would pick up no marketing intelligence but I can guarantee to you that these are no ordinary hyperlinks because Cabela’s did not get to the top of the hyper-competitive retail outdoor sporting gear category by using dumb marketing tools and techniques.

Just imagine how much higher their conversion rates are when they send fishing gear promotions to their fisherman right before fishing season, hunting gear promotions to their hunters right before hunting season and camping gear promotions to their campers before the most popular camping months?

Or the flip side to this equation… the side too many marketers ignore at their peril.
