The ugly truth about DFY funnels

I could tease you and withhold the ugly truth about DFY (done for you) funnels until the end of this article but there are enough naive people that won’t believe me anyhow so I’ll tell you right now and save some of you the time required to read to the bottom.

DFY Funnels don’t work.

This simple truth is flying in the face of so many Facebook “experts” that claim your business is lacking one thing and one thing only… the “super funnel” that only they can create for you.

Frank Kern was amongst the first, and best, to promote the myth that he can build a funnel for you that will magically transform your business by routing prospects through a labyrinth of steps to convert them into paying customers that beg to buy your product and every up sell you push onto their screen.

He was so good at these funnels that he promoted his book where he taught others how to become “experts” so they could live a lavish lifestyle creating funnels for others and earn huge paychecks for their expertise.

Thankfully for everyone that wants a DFY funnel, you now have unlimited options and suppliers to choose from… if only they actually worked – but they don’t.

That’s not to say all hope is lost.

You can still get help building a funnel but you need to understand the difference between a DFY funnel and a DWY funnel.

DFY (done for you) = Cookie cutter funnel based upon someone else’s idea of how your business operates and what your customer base wants.

DWY (done with you) = Sales funnel that replicates your business as it already exists and simply makes it better while automating the “drudgery” items so you don’t need to do them any longer.

Until your business is just like all the others, until your customer’s demand the exact same thing as all the others… you need to keep operating your business in the manner that has brought you to this point. Not to say you should not improve your business every day but there’s already a “secret sauce” in the success of your business that you own and others do not have.

It’s easy to believe there’s a shortcut, a silver bullet or “secret” technique that will 10X your business but the reality is that you already know far more about your business than the “experts” telling you how to “change” your business. Don’t fall into this trap.

Summary of Webinar on How to Become a Best Selling Author

Gary Jezorski, the man behind CloudNet360 got together with Marty Dickinson and presented a live webinar on Jan 10th to teach people how to quickly and easily become a Amazon bestselling author. It was first in the series, the rest will follow soon.

The discussion was targeted at people who are coaches or consultants and it focused on how they can increase their business by writing a book on their area of expertise and sell it on Amazon.

The main points discussed in the webinar were:

1. One needs to have an original concept or, a method of their own on which they might want to enlighten people. One shouldn’t copy an idea to turn it into a profit making book.
2. One needs to choose a particular topic to write the first book
3. Instead of writing a long 500-page book which many people won’t bother reading, make it concise, more like 80-100 pages.
4. Break down the topic into five core chapters
5. Use a ghost writer with good grammar skills who is skilled at interviewing to uncover the essential information – ProduceMyBook.com is a good resource
6. Research a title that people will be hooked on and promises an attractive benefit
7. There is a methodology of writing the book that gets people to read far enough through the book in order to get paid for the book on Amazon.
8. Always register a domain name for your book and use it in your promotions.

These were the main points that were discussed; now this being an extensive topic they are going to break it down into several webinars, the next webinar will cover the topic of launching the actual book after it gets written.

A Niche Marketing Technique That’s Not All “Right”

Yes, it’s a bad pun… but it’s an important online marketing concept in the business plans of so many “name brand” and well known marketing heroes.

Niche marketing is never really about finding some tiny sliver of business that nobody else wants, it’s really about connecting strongly with your customer base. Being able to design an entire sales process around a topic that will be instantly identified by your target market is “niche marketing”… regardless of the size of the market.

For example, Burger King is a “niche marketer” because their customer base can readily identify with what they will receive as soon as they walk in the door of the restaurant. If you want a “burger”, going to “Burger King” is likely going to be a good place to start and you’ll instantly know this by their name alone.

Adding the “flame broiled” aspect of their burgers further defines their niche in the burger business but simply by choosing the name “Burger King”, they clearly decided what business they were in and who they want as customers.

Will Burger King attract people that want Sushi, Italian, or Pizza? No, but they don’t care.

They could have easily named their restaurants “Family Diner” to appeal to everyone but they would have lost their core customer base of burger lovers. By trying to appeal to everyone, they would have attracted no one.

While vacationing in Disney with the family, I ran across this niche business that seems to be doing alright even though they don’t do anything “right”.
